Calvert Hall hires alum as new basketball coach
Calvert Hall Athletic Director Lou Eckerl has announced the school has hired John Bauersfeld, a 1994 graduate and former player, as the school's new basketball coach.
TOWSON, MD – Calvert Hall Athletic Director Lou Eckerl has announced the school has hired John Bauersfeld, a 1994 graduate and former player, as the school's new basketball coach. Bauersfeld, who has been the First Assistant Varsity Basketball Coach since 2005, will succeed Mark Amatucci '70, who stepped down as Head Varsity Coach in June 2007. From 2002-2005, Bauersfeld was the Head Varsity Basketball Coach at Western Tech, where he currently teaches Social Studies. Bauersfeld's other basketball coaching experience includes Head JV Coach at Calvert Hall (2001-02); Head JV Coach at Western Tech (1999-2001) and Assistant Varsity Coach at Gettysburg High School (1998-99). Bauersfeld played at Calvert Hall for Mark Amatucci from 1990-94 and was co-captain of the team during his senior year. Upon graduating from The Hall, he played at Gettysburg College (1994-98), where he was also a co-captain. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Gettysburg in May 1998 and a Master of Arts degree in Secondary Education from Towson University in May 2005. “I feel honored that the administration has displayed the confidence in me to take on such a prestigious job. I am looking forward to continuing the exemplary tradition of molding quality student-athletes, which Coach Amatucci has established,” Bauersfeld said.
